General Description:
GROUP Contractors believes an internship student is a student work experience that integrates
knowledge and theory learned in the classroom, enabling the student to gain a practical
experience as a professional under conditions conductive to educational development. The
internship should introduce the student to the transition from college to work and allow for both
personal, and professional development.
Essential Functions:
• Estimating & Pre-Construction:
o Specification analysis
o Takeoffs & Plan Reading
o Material and subcontractor quote analysis
o Bid Submission
o Attend meetings as required
o Miscellaneous Tasks as required
• Field Operations:
o Subcontractor coordination
o Material ordering
o Construction Crew Accounting
o Quantity Verifications
o Project Meeting Attendance & Documentation
o Job Cost Review
o Construction Scheduling
o Observe construction operations
o Material Quality Control
o Miscellaneous Tasks as required

Physical Demands:
Office Environment – Employee is regularly required to sit; use of hands to grip, handle, or feel;
reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and
walk and must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours:
This is a full-time or part-time, hourly position. Days and hours of work are Monday – Friday
from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening/weekend work or travel may be required as job
duties demand. The environment for this job varies – 90% of the job will be in a typical,
professional office environment. 10% of the role consists of visiting jobsites to gain better scope
of bid requirements.
Required Education and Experience:
• Full-time student (12 semester hours) attending a four-year university and have
completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship
• If transferred from a two-year university, have completed 12 semester hours at the fouryear university prior to the start of the internship
• Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 / 4.0
• Students must be of legal working age
• Ability to use math/complete calculations
Industry Related Requirements:
• Must be able to pass all Safety Council related courses
• Must undergo Pre-Employment Screening (physical, drug & alcohol screen, audiogram,
fit test if applicable)
• Must hold a valid Driver’s License to operate company equipment and/or vehicles
