Job Duties

Assists Probation Officers in the supervision, surveillance, and investigation of an assigned caseload of adult inmates. Investigates and verifies information on alleged violations. Assists in
monitoring probationers and assists in preparing reports and maintaining documentation.

The position is located in the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) northern pay band area and the hiring range listed includes a $4,000 pay differential associated with this District Office.

This is a wage (hourly) position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of surveillance and investigative techniques. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Automated Databases. Demonstrated experience to collect pertinent information from a variety of sources, maintain logs, and document discussions with inmates, or probationers in a human service setting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Working knowledge of an electronic, voice monitoring system &/or anytrax.

Additional Considerations

Experience working with case management computer applications. Demonstrated experience making referrals to community resources.
