Senior Staff Accountant

Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant          

Reports To: Corporate Controller

Business and Department: VPC Finance & Admin

Role Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant performs a variety of transactional accounting and reporting functions and plays a leading role in the Accounting Department’s preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements, as well as business unit performance analysis. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and processes, as well as the ability to extract and analyze data from an ERP system. The Senior Staff Accountant will perform a variety of tasks such as monthly and year-end accounting, maintenance and updating of general ledger schedules, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, consolidation entries, accruals, depreciation, intercompany reconciliations, GL coding, etc., culminating in the preparation of business unit and consolidated financial statements.

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

• Perform journal entries to record financial information from source documents.
• Properly code transactions within the general ledger.
• Maintain general ledger schedules.
• Perform reconciliations for accruals, prepaid and other balance sheet accounts.
• Month-end and year-end consolidation entries.
• Fixed asset , debt and lease accounting.
• Monthly and year-end business unit and consolidated financial statement preparation.
• Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary information.
• Review transactions for compliance with internal controls and company policies.

• Accurately meets all assigned month-end and year-end accounting responsibilities within the stated closing timeline.
• Maintain or improve days to close.
