POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County is excited to add a Temporary Recreation Assistant to our team! This position will assist with a variety of outdoor special events, activities, and commemorative events. This position will primarily be located in the Uptown Charlotte area, but events will be at various locations and times. The incumbent will provide light housekeeping and sanitation before, during and after events, prepare the facilities for reservations/bookings and assist with other event duties as assigned. The selected candidate will work a varying schedule, which may include nights, weekends and holidays depending on special events and reservations schedule. As is typical with event operations, hours vary and are subject to change.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong customer service skills
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions
• Experience assisting with special events strongly preferred

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
• Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
• Prepare facility before and after scheduled reservations for weddings and non-wedding events
• Visit Park and Recreation venues/sites, monitoring events and assisting with special events
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Collect fees and taking registrations for facility rentals
• Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
• Handle inquiries and complaints from public
• Assist with Department-sponsored events

Experience:
No experience required

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? N/A

Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid

Computer Skills: General knowledge of various
