The Senior Radiopharmacy Engineer is accountable for the safe and routine operation, maintenance, and repair of one or more particle accelerators in BAMF Health’s radiopharmacy, which manufactures PET diagnostics under 21 CFR 212 guidelines. Additionally, the Senior Radiopharmacy Engineer is responsible for first-line troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment associated with manufacturing, including cyclotron vault systems, solid-targetry, lead shielded hot-cells, manipulator arms, radiosynthesizers, QC equipment, radiation monitoring systems, water and gas systems, facility exhaust systems etc., as well as associated IT systems. The individual should be capable of independent decision-making abilities for most cyclotron and facility situations and will be called upon to troubleshoot non-routine manufacturing concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Cyclotron Operations and Maintenance Perform routine, non-routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on cyclotron systems, including RF systems, power supplies, beam lines, and targetry, while engaging with manufacturer support as needed.

• Production Support Provide technical support to ensure seamless isotope production, collaborating with operational teams to address challenges and maintain 24x7 manufacturing schedules.

• Safety and Compliance Promote safety practices, enforce proper use of protective equipment, address environmental hazards, and assist leadership with state and federal inspections (e.g., NRC, FDA).

• Program and Risk Management Prioritize tasks to meet objectives, identify and address barriers, and communicate risks and mitigations to leadership to ensure timely delivery of program goals.

• Preventative Maintenance and Tracking Develop, implement, and track preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity of cyclotron systems and related infrastructure.

• Quality Documentation Author, review, and execute quality documentation, including validation protocols, operational procedures, and maintenance records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

• Design and Engineering Projects Lead capital equipment installations, develop custom equipment to enhance cyclotron performance, and support infrastructure engineering projects.

• Research and Development Support Collaborate with R&D teams to explore new cyclotron applications and support radioisotope process development, including validation and commissioning of equipment.

• Training and Team Development Train operations staff, develop SOPs and training guides, and support the hiring, mentoring, and performance monitoring of technical and operational teams.

• Performance Optimization and Documentation Track system performance, analyze production yield data, and optimize efficiency through detailed monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS or MS Degree in Applied Science preferred

• 10+ years hands-on experience with accelerators cyclotron maintenance, repair, and operation preferred

• A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of above stated qualification

Schedule Details:

• Employment Status: Full time (1.0FTE)

• Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40

• Hours of Work: Flexible with shifts between 3:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.

• Days: Monday to Friday

• Location: Grand Rapids, MI
