Senior Cost and Price Analyst

<p><strong>Summary</strong></p> <p>Rystad Energy is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented senior professional to join our Cost &amp; Prices research team. The role focuses on leading the analysis of the price formation in the global supply chain, predominately within energy, and manage our products in this domain. The successful candidate will need to be detail-oriented, have a passion for data and statistical analysis, be comfortable with clients and be an excellent communicator and team leader. </p> <p>Job responsibilities include overseeing data collection, creating and improving data models, develop PowerPoint decks, manage a team of analysts, and write research notes. The candidate is expected to be a self-starter and conduct data analysis and market research with minimal supervision. We are looking for an individual able to work independently under tight deadlines and able to juggle multiple priorities. This role will be client-facing and present findings from market research and analysis at client sites, industry or Rystad Energy events. On top of that the successful candidate will also support commercial processes with our sales team.</p> <p><strong>Job Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Gather, process, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources</li> <li>Track reported price data by governments and industry associations</li> <li>Forecast prices for materials, components, equipment and services used in the energy market </li> <li>Track and analyze trade flow data (imports and exports)</li> <li>Understand how prices is impacting cost formation for various energy sources (oil and gas, renewables, clean-tech)</li> <li>Develop and lead our price databases and tools</li> <li>Solve clients' business problems by creating internal workflows, including data analysis, primary research through interviews, and data gathering from public and proprietary sources</li> <li>Maintain and expand the network of primary intelligence sources in the energy industry</li> <li>Assist with business development activities such as sharing market views, explaining the methodology and research processes through virtual presentations or in-person presentations at industry or Rystad Energy events</li> <li>Write insightful commentaries and reports on industry trends</li> <li>Present the company’s view of price inflation across the energy market at internal and external industry events and via webinars</li> <li>Support our external clients, consultants and business development team</li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience &amp; Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>3-10 years of relevant work experience in the energy space</li> <li>Experience as a purchaser, procurement analyst, category manager or cost engineer is ideal. Background from consulting / consulting-like environment, or engineering would also be of interest</li> <li>Excellent working knowledge and understanding of procurement processes</li> <li>University degree in a data driven or energy field such as mathematics, engineering, economics or information technology</li> <li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on attitude</li> <li>Self-motivated, proactive and independent as well as a strong team player</li> <li>Outstanding ability to synthesize data and information coming from multiple sources (quantitative and qualitative)</li> <li>Desire to work with both the technical and financial aspects of the energy market</li> <li>Knowledge and genuine interest in energy markets</li> <li>Fluent in English; other languages are a plus</li> <li>Strong communication skills, both verbal and written</li> <li>Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, and Python.
