A SHIFT GROUP LEADER
JOB SUMMARY:
Safely directs daily Flexographic Press routines and production; meets with the Production Supervisor to discuss daily production plan; meets with outgoing or incoming Group Leaders to discuss any ongoing issues, sets crewing as needed to run efficiently, helps on the press floor to maximize production and quality efficiencies; directs personnel, sets-up and maintains equipment used in the printing of paper; daily routines of housekeeping, trouble-shooting problems, ensures quality production, completes start-up and shut-down procedures, assists in tooling changeovers, works in a productive manner, and adheres to all safety guidelines; assumes duties of Production Supervisor as needed (vacations/absences). Understanding and aligning business operations through execution of the role while meeting or exceeding customer expectations and aligning with GPI’s business, cultural, financial, and operation objectives.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Qualified Flexographic Press Operator, required
- Visual color acuity, ability to discern shades of color; not color blind
- High degree of mechanical ability. Must have skills to perform the basic technical tasks, including experience with various hand tools
- Well-developed communications and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Maintains positive team environment
- Demonstrated positive attitude and patience in high-stress environments/situations
- Demonstrated traits of respect and integrity
- Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
- Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication); Convert units of measure, including accurately reading rulers to 1/32 of an inch, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Ability to work in a fast-pace, multi-task environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the Internal Promotion Policy
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
- Adhere to plant and corporate safety policies by always performing duties in a safe and orderly manner; be actively engaged in all safety programs
- Ensure production and distribution of products are consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- Maintain 5S in assigned area by keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly
