EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
•    High School diploma or GED is required.
•    Associate’s degree or higher, with relevant course work in accounting or related field is preferred.
•    At least three (3) years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping that includes accounts payable responsibilities is required.
•    Experience with Oracle is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
•    A thorough knowledge of accounts payable /accounting procedures and practices.
•    Ability to understand and apply established policies and procedures in the day-to-day maintenance of financial records.
•    Excellent organizational skills, ability to accomplish multiple projects, meet weekly deadlines and pay attention to detail.
•    Good computer literacy skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
•    Knowledge of the preparation of Excel spreadsheets for various schedules and reporting.
•    Excellent verbal, written, analytical and human relation skills.
•    Ability to be flexible, prioritize time effectively, team oriented and a willingness to take on more responsibility as knowledge and experience are acquired.
•    Ability to learn new systems and adapt to new process as they are implemented.
•    Ability to reconcile vendor statements and handle vendor disputes.
•    Knowledge of purchasing card and procurement procedures.
•    Prepares daily cash receipts and adjusting journal entries as needed.
•    Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and able to work in team-oriented environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•    Processes a high volume of invoices, purchasing card transactions and other payments, by site.
•    Reviews, researches, reconciles balances and resolves issues with vendor accounts, purchase orders and invoices prior to issuing payments.
•    Reviews, corrects and verifies source documents that they have all documentation, account code is correct for payment and amounts to be paid is accurate prior to submission to AP.
•    Prioritize payment to obtain cash discounts and checks amounts invoiced by footing and cross footing.
•    Reviews invoices from vendors for assurance that sales tax has not been assessed.
•    Communicates with FNS Managers and office personnel as required to pay invoices outstanding.
•    Works closely and cooperatively with independent auditors obtaining documentation for auditors.
•    Prepares and submits accurate reports as required.
•    Keeps head of accounts payable, accounting manager and Director of FNS informed of problems requiring action.
•    Performs job efficiently, timely and accurately and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
•    Reviews open files for overdue invoices, back orders, monthly statements and approvals to pay to process invoices on a current basis.
•    Maintains complete records regarding all FNS vendor payments.
•    Communicates orally, electronically and in writing with staff, vendors and the public.
•    Willingness to be cross trained in FNS office functions.
•    Regular on-time attendance.
•    Provides customer service and support to internal departments and vendors with respect to various accounts payable inquiries.
•    Assists with special projects as needed.
•    Ensures monthly invoices are received from all sites.
•    Completes monthly payable summary in a timely manner for inclusion in the monthly P&L.
•    Handles phone calls from parents, assists parents with student account questions and fund transfers.
•    Assists in answering phone calls for the Food and Nutrition Services office.
•    Prepares and submits accurate reports as required.
•    Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
