Associate Counsel (Contracts Negotiator)

 

Location: Ireland

Work mode: Hybrid (Dublin) or Home-based (Ireland)

 

Position Summary:

 

Bentley Systems is seeking an experienced legal professional to join our growing EMEA Legal team within the Law and Corporate Advancement organization. The position title and scope will be aligned with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Reporting to the EMEA Legal regional head in Dublin, this role supports Bentley’s commercial operations across EMEA, providing pragmatic legal advice, resolving complex contractual matters, and helping advance our global business objectives.

We’re looking for a motivated, business-oriented professional with strong negotiation skills and a collaborative mindset, who thrives in a dynamic, international environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial technology licensing, consulting, and subcontracting agreements with private and public sector entities.
  • Advise on RFPs, tenders, and related contractual documentation across EMEA.
  • Review transactional documents such as purchase orders and user terms for software and services.
  • Conduct legal research and assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies.
  • Prepare internal memoranda, correspondence, and contract documentation.
  • Support corporate governance for EMEA subsidiaries, including coordination of company secretarial and compliance matters.
  • Contribute to training and awareness initiatives supporting Bentley’s Law and Corporate Advancement objectives.
  • Mentor and collaborate with other team members as required.
  • Provide day-to-day counsel on commercial, licensing, and general legal matters.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Law or a related discipline; qualification to practice law preferred.
  • For Associate Counsel: Qualified lawyer with minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in relevant work as in-house counsel or equivalent experience in a law firm. You will have a degree in law and qualification to practice.
  • For Contracts Negotiator: minimum 2 years’ relevant contract negotiation experience in-house or at a law firm. You will have a degree in law or related discipline, such as a university degree.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the confidence to represent Bentley in commercial discussions.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex issues clearly to varied audiences.
  • Experience in technology licensing, including SaaS and cloud offerings, strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • No travel required.
