Job Summary
This is a fully in-person summer internship located in Germantown, Maryland. We are seeking a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline. Interns will work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks during the summer.
Responsible for assisting the quality team and supporting product quality improvements. Develop, maintain, and deploy quality plans and activities that translate customer requirements into planned activities. Ability to work independently under supervision of others.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the quality team with internal audits, ensuring implementation of root cause corrective actions.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes and systems.
- May assist quality engineering team and management in assessing measures of performance through data collection, reporting and analysis.
- May evaluate quality data collection systems and processes to determine whether these data collection processes adequately depict the quality of products and processes involving supplies, manufacturing test, and lifestyle management.
- Support projects and processes that ensure continuously improving value to our customers and business units.
- Create organizational value by implementing innovative solutions and best practices involved in all processes of the product realization value stream.
- Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers.
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Conduct analysis and gather data to identify areas for process improvement and cost reduction.
- May be required to help in research in a particular field.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to address production issues.
- Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
- Work cross-functionally with teams such as quality assurance, supply chain, and operations to ensure seamless production flow.
- Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Engineering student; some progress towards engineering degree.
- Must be college Junior or Senior.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network.
- Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn.
- Exposure to ISO standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The salary range for this position is $23/hour - $24/hour. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
