Lead Software Engineer (Java)

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Java) to join our growing team in the Digitization initiatives in North America Commercial Insurance and Major Markets space. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing new software and web applications as well as maintain existing applications. You will be both hands-on engineer, leveraging your technical expertise to drive solution development, and team lead, guiding teams of software engineers to build scalable and resilient systems at an enterprise level. In this role, you will:

• Work in an Agile environment and participate in story refinement, estimation and delivery, as well as project/program definition and estimation
• Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and hands-on guidance with regards to technical practices, procedures, and techniques
• Serve as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Engineers, as well as lead for our consultant teams
• Participate in issue triaging, solving and release deployment
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and QA throughout the organization to seek opportunities for increasing automation
• Partner with security and infrastructure teams to remediate vulnerabilities and end-of-life software/hardware

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related discipline
• 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering/architecture, as well as data analysis and management; experience within the insurance and/or finance industry required
• Demonstrated engineering experience utilizing the Java stack (Java, Spring Boot and/or Quarkus Frameworks, JVM internals, Junit, JavaScript, Apache Camel)
• Experience with Cloud Computing, Azure, AKS, Python and Java based Microservices, Docker containers, Angular framework, MVC, SOAP Web services, REST APIs, Kafka, MQ, Git, TFS, and/or DevOps tools
• Good exposure on any RDBMS and Bigdata Platforms, MongoDB, and Data Modelling
• Prior experience in digital security and privacy practices
• Strong analytical and communication skills

 

In Jersey City, NJ the pay range for the role is $122,500 to $198,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
