Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Director – Pole Programs to join our growing team. You will report to the Head of Centralized Engineering & Construction Support and lead various Pole Programs across our Brightspeed footprint. The candidate will play a pivotal role in the success of the Fiber Build by providing comprehensive strategies and support for the internal stakeholders as well as external business partners. This will have a direct impact in driving fiber build growth and speed to market. This position requires strong business acumen, the abilities to define and implement groundbreaking ideas, to work within a fast-moving environment to rapidly deliver support and services that have a broad business impact, and desire to have an industry wide impact. The position also requires significant prior work experience in managing complex programs, multi-tier organizations and industry experience in Pole related programs. 

As Director, Pole Programs you will have the following responsibilities: 

Contract Administration​  

  • Responsible to maintain 2000+ existing Pole Joint Ownership, Joint Use and Pole License Agreements 
  • Draft new agreements, negotiate terms and support dispute resolution 
  • Develop, build, and expand relationships with utility providers, public officials, and other influential policy makers 
  • Coordinate with Senior leadership to manage the collaboration of other government affairs team members and outside consultants 
  • Develop and grow grassroots and third-party support for the benefit of the company and its interests 

Joint Use Program​ 

  • E2E lifecycle support for Joint Use and Make Ready programs 
  • Collaborating with engineering counterparts regarding overall aerial processes ensuring design feasibility, accuracy and quality standards are met 
  • Understanding of NESC requirements 
  • Providing inbound billing audit support  
  • Performing strategic pole audits to identify illegal attachments that require billing of attachment fees

Transfers Programs​ 

  • Managing Pole Transfer Execution ​ 
  • Coordinating "Next to Go"​ 
  • Managing Backlog​ 
  • Administrate status via systems such as NJUNS and SPANS

Pole Remediation

  • Oversee pole inspection program 
  • Balance replacement cost with trussing viability through vendor partnerships

 Program Planning, Budgeting and Reporting ​ 

  • Accountable for managing a diverse workforce that drives compliance to set programs  
  • Creating project plans to track all programs, set strategic goals and objectives​
  • Budget planning, compliance and reporting​ 
  • Managing the financial capital and expense operating budgets for the various pole initiative through strong partnerships and operational reviews with the finance team 
  • Driving the company culture and strategies 
  • Leading by example in creating an environment that encourages open communication, sharing ideas and best practices, and building strong cross-functional relationships 

 

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering and/or Organizational Management   
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to hire, develop, and motivate team members 
  • Significant prior industry experience in facility engineering, network deployments and vendor management 
  • Prior industry experience in fiber deployments 
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance and operate with integrity and within company values 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with cross functional teams 
  • Process improvement and customer-centric mindset 
  • Ability to motivate others and work under pressure 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills 
  • Exceptional
