Position eligible for $1,500 sign on bonus!!The Nurse assumes a pivotal role within VisionQuest by spearheading the team's approach to non-clinical health service delivery. The Nurse duties encompass evaluating, facilitating, and overseeing all aspects of the children’s medical and dental care. Emphasizing disease prevention and health upkeep, the Registered Nurse collaborates closely with medical providers to ensure children in our care receive the best health services available. This position isalso tasked with providing supervisory oversight for the medical department team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:● Compliance: o Keep up-to-date with all local, state, and federal policies and procedures related to medicalcoordination and services for Unaccompanied Children under the care of the Office of RefugeeResettlement (ORR). o Ensure adherence to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards. o Oversee and maintain medical files accurately. o Guarantee timely and accurate documentation in the VisionQuest database and ORR-UC Portal, along with keeping a physical copy of necessary documents and medical records. o Make sure all documentation complies with VisionQuest, ORR, and Licensing policies. Regularly perform audits to check for compliance. o Conduct at least monthly departmental audits following VisionQuest Policies and Procedures. Also, carry out frequent audits of the ORR UC Portal. Perform additional monitoring as required.● Medical Services Coordination & Response: o Provide timely medical, dental, and mental health services for children using localproviders, ensuring compliance with Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), VisionQuest(VQ), and state licensing requirements. o Organize and coordinate the scheduling and transportation of children to their medical,dental, and mental health appointments. o Collaborate with health professionals to uphold health and safety standards, includingadherence to licensing requirements, disease reporting, immunizations, injury prevention,medication management for out-of-home childcare, and leverage community health andmental health resources. o Attend medical, dental, and mental health appointments as necessary, especially forchildren with complex medical needs or to support the medical department. o Assist medical provider staff during appointments as needed and dispenseover-the-counter and prescribed medications in accordance with VisionQuest’s medicationpolicy. o Respond immediately to the emergency medical needs of children in care. o Manage treatment authorization requests with insurance and maintain good relationshipswith community providers to ensure they accept the insurance and receive timely payments. o Educate and counsel children on their health conditions, treatment options, and diseaseprevention. Inform staff and, when necessary, communicate with the child’s family aboutdiagnoses to ensure proper follow-up care post-reunification. ● Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities: o Maintain professional conduct and build strong partnerships with stakeholders. o Oversee the medical department, including supervisory responsibilities. o Hold regular meetings with Medical Coordinators for updates, training, and guidance. o Supervise, guide, evaluate, and discipline the medical coordinator team as needed,according to VisionQuest’s policies. o Motivate and develop the team to improve services and programs. o Train, supervise, and evaluate the team to enhance performance. o Foster a positive work environment focused on growth, teamwork, and trauma-informedcare. o Manage staff training and ensure compliance with state and federal training requirements. o Coordinate with the Program Director and Assistant Program Director to address medicalstaff performance issues. o Facilitate effective communication and coordination among management, leadership, andcorporate personnel. o Participate in all relevant departmental and program meetings to stay informed andensure policy compliance. o Support after-hours on-call duties and conduct unannounced visits.● Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
