Your Impact

Hearst Magazines is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide critical support in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements. This role is pivotal in assisting with month-end close and annual budgeting activities, preparing and maintaining financial packages, and contributing to ad hoc projects. Successful candidates will possess a strong accounting background, advanced technical skills, and a proven ability to work with complex datasets.

What You'll Do: 

  • Prepare, maintain, and report detailed monthly and yearly financial statements and packages, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Analyze and investigate variances in operating results compared to forecasts, budgets, and prior years
  • Collaborate in the annual budgeting process by compiling and reporting operating results
  • Drive process improvement and leverage technology to automate & streamline accounting and finance functions
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop more efficient systems for financial calculations & consolidation
  • Lead or participate in special projects and provide adhoc analytical support
  • Support operations team in data retrieval, P&L compilation & analysis

Who You Are: 

  • Accounting Degree Required - CPA Preferred
  • 4+ years’ experience
  • Advanced Excel skills required (Macros, pivots, xlookup, vlookup, Index-Match-Match)
  • Oracle Cloud, Smartview/Essbase, or Hyperion experience desired
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills 
  • Ability to work with large data sets and possess data mining skills
  • Willingness to develop technical expertise on accounting software systems

The base salary for this role is $88,000-$90,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. 

This position is based in the South Charlotte office 3 days a week. No remote option.
