The Lead Pharmacy Counsel, vitaCare Prescription Services will join the fast growing GoodRx Legal Team and will be the primary legal advisor for Goodrx’s subsidiary vitaCare Prescription Services (VPS).
This role closely collaborates with the executive leadership team, managers, pharmacists, and corporate Legal to ensure regulatory compliance for vitaCare Prescription Services. You will work as a key consultative partner to the team to review new and existing client offerings to ensure compliance, including serving as primary legal contact for VitaCare clients.
This role will also serve as the lead of HIPAA Privacy compliance, acting as the VPS HIPAA Privacy and Compliance Officer, and is responsible for successful accreditation, regulatory and operational compliance with enacted federal and state rules and regulations, pharmacovigilance, CMS regulations and other accrediting bodies, i.e., URAC.
This role has oversight of the PDMP (prescription drug monitoring program), and ownership of client/partner audits, Board of Pharmacy audits, surveys, investigations, and regulatory inquiry responses.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison to pharmacy staff and provide broad oversight for licensing, accreditation standards, federal and state rules and regulations, CMS regulations, audits and Board of Pharmacy inquiries, pharmacy specific accreditations held, and regulatory standards and their interpretations.
- Provide consultation to VPS leadership to identify and initiate improvements to ensure compliance with existing and evolving accreditation standards, CMS requirements, and federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain subject matter knowledge and expertise and enhance knowledge of the above standards, rules, and regulations that relate to pharmacy services.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of additions and changes to standards, rules, and regulations that relate to pharmacy services, their interpretation, current trends and issues, and timelines for compliance.
- Lead risk mitigation efforts for all legal related issues.
- Complete gap analyses for compliance with additions and changes to the standards, rules, regulations and assess potential organizational impact.
- Develop and/or update policies, procedures, SOPs, and business rules documents whenever additions and changes to standards, rules, or regulations warrant.
- Reviews proposed regulatory changes for operational impacts and for planning purposes.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures related to applicable pharmacy accreditation standards and compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
- Reviews business rules documentation, policies, and procedures in coordination with VPS leadership for new and existing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain current pharmacy accreditation, and facilitate compliance education, including training for new employees and ongoing for existing employees to ensure a constant state of readiness and compliance.
- Oversee processes to ensure no employee appears on the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities, the General Services Administration (GSA) list of debarred contractors, or State excluded providers list.
