We are transforming the way we manage data across the Environment Agency to become more data-driven, and enabling every data users to access trusted data for themselves. We have an exciting opportunity in our newly formed Chief Data Office to understand better the organisation’s future data and information needs and skills. This role underlines our commitment to delivering real improvements for the environment and people by standardising and assuring data and information activities.
As the Data Futures Senior Advisor, you will:
• Set out future workforce requirements and plans for the data and information profession for the Environment Agency
• Horizon scan for future trends in data and information management
• Build the data knowledge and awareness required within the organisation
• Review and develop data and information related training packages
• Develop a data and information profession framework
• Identify wider business data skills and literacy needs.
We are looking for a thought leader, who is able to organise, inspire and motivate colleagues to realise our ambition for the Environment Agency. The team The newly formed Chief Data Office is part of the Data and Information Department within our Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate.
You will work closely with colleagues from across the Department, as well as with data and information experts across the Environment Agency.
We are a friendly and supportive team of data and information specialists, transforming the Environment Agency’s data and information ambitions. Experience/skills required You’ll be self-motivated, innovative in your thinking and open to challenge. And demonstrate excellent judgement/decision making. You’ll be responsive/ flexible to changing priorities with emotional intelligence/resilience and a collaborative “can-do” attitude. Must have experience in the following areas:
• Knowledge of data management skills/data literacy (analysis, data science etc) to support data maturity and data exploitation.
• Developing/embedding approaches, frameworks/training to support up-skilling of staff.
• Translating user needs to outcomes link to strategic aims/delivery actions.
• Working in a team and independently
• Communicating/engaging with variety of stakeholders at all lev
