The Role
Event Network, North America’s leader in experiential retail, is seeking a Vice President of Experiential Design & Development—a strategic design leader who thrives on turning bold concepts into built reality. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and execution-driven. It demands a leader who thrives in the design studio and in the trenches of project delivery, turning abstract ideas into tangible experiences that delight guests and advance our partners’ goals.
The Vice President of Experiential Design & Development (VP) will partner closely with the SVP of Experience Design & Development (SVP) to bring visionary strategies to life through detailed design development, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is ideal for a design professional who excels in rolling up their sleeves, driving design production, and ensuring operational excellence in every detail.
What You’ll Do
Design Execution & Delivery
• Lead design development from concept refinement through hand-off to construction team, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality.
• Translate strategic design direction into practical, executable design solutions that balance creativity with operational realities.
• Oversee production of design deliverables, including drawings, renderings, 3D models, and specifications.
• Ensure all design outputs meet brand standards, partner requirements, and technical compliance.
• Translate the SVP’s strategic design direction into practical, buildable solutions without compromising creativity.
• Own the design development process—driving drawings, specifications, and models to completion.
• Balance aspirational design concepts with operational, budgetary, and technical realities.
Project Leadership & Execution
• Manage day-to-day design workflow across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
• Partner with Construction, Product, and Operations teams to ensure an aligned process and a seamless handoff and execution in the field.
• Troubleshoot design and implementation issues quickly, finding solutions that maintain design integrity while ensuring feasibility.
• Maintain organized project documentation, approvals, and progress tracking.
Team Leadership & Development
• Supervise, mentor, and inspire designers and project coordinators in a collaborative studio environment.
• Foster a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement within the design team.
• Provide technical guidance and design oversight to ensure all team members produce exceptional, buildable work.
• Drive best practices for documentation, standards, and process discipline across the design function.
Stakeholder & Partner Collaboration
• Communicate design intent clearly and effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and vendor partners.
• Support the SVP in client/partner presentations by ensuring design packages are thorough, polished, and ready for executive review.
• Serve as the tactical point person for cross-functional partners (Construction, Product, Operations, Merchandising, Business Development).
What You Bring
• 10+ years of experience in retail, hospitality, or experiential design, with a focus on execution and delivery.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in design development and technical execution of high-quality built environments.
• Demonstrated success translating strategic design direction into detailed, buildable solutions.
• Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
• High proficiency in design and documentation software (examples: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D visualization).
• Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, ADA requirements, and construction processes.
• Proven ability to mentor teams, set standards, and drive results with precision.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Experience working with cultural attractions, lifestyle destinations, or branded destinations.
• Ability to bridge creative vision with operational execution.
