Job Description

The main responsibility of the role is to lead and champion a comprehensive HSE Management program resulting in a world class HSE culture and regulatory compliance across WireCo’s US facilities including 4 manufacturing plants and 4 distribution locations throughout the US. The goal is to embed a clear, well defined, holistic process resulting in a major shift in how Safety is viewed across the entire organization. The candidate should have experience with a world class HSE culture and performance, knowing clearly what great looks like and have the ability to lead a transformation to “great”.

The role will report to the Global Director HSEQ, and will be highly visible throughout the organization with frequent presentation and direct communication to WireCo’s senior management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and champion the safety vision of US facilities in alignment with the Global HSE strategy, drive ownership of a comprehensive approach to safety engagement
  • Influence and coach site managers and supervisors on development of robust action plans to improve performance and take needed action to implement the strategy
  • Facilitate “best practice” sharing and standard development across facilities
  • Develop training and marketing materials to support communication and learning
  • Act as a supervisor and coach to all US facility HSE team members, providing strategic and process focused guidance, while assisting operations leader’s HSE efforts
  • Manage safety reporting systems including tracking software, incident investigation and root cause/ corrective action verification
  • Work closely with Global HSE Director to assure regulatory compliance with all matters related to HSE at each of the locations in the US Steel network
  • Actively participate as a member of the WireCo Global Safety Council

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Lead team of four site HSE Leaders to drive the day-to-day execution of HSE operations

Keep HSE team apprised of departmental and organizational objectives and updates through regular 1-on-1s and staff meetings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant HSE technical knowledge gained through substantial and sustained best in class Safety experience across multiple facilities
  • Track record of success transforming and achieving industry leading HSE performance
  • Significant leadership capability with perseverance and influence as an agent for change
  • Comfortable discussing safety behavior and performance opportunities with employees and leaders across the organization
  • Experienced and comfortable with communicating to all levels of the organization, including shop level and executives 
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to coach appropriate and effective root caused based corrective actions
