The Senior Director of Global Procurement will lead the strategic and operational oversight of procurement activities for both direct and indirect categories within a global medical device organization. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with corporate objectives, driving cost savings, ensuring supply chain resilience, and fostering supplier partnerships that support innovation and compliance with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy for both direct and indirect categories, ensuring alignment with business goals and market conditions.
- Build and lead a high-performing procurement team across regions to drive efficiency, innovation, and excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, IT, HR) to support new product development, operational needs, improved quality outcomes and business growth initiatives.
Direct Procurement
- Oversee procurement of raw materials, components, and finished goods critical to medical device manufacturing.
- Build a robust supplier base to ensure quality, compliance, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity.
- Partner with the operations team to optimize inventory levels, lead times, and supplier performance.
Indirect Procurement
- Manage procurement for services, capital expenditures, IT, professional services, marketing, and other indirect categories.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers and negotiate enterprise-wide agreements to achieve cost savings.
- Drive process improvements to ensure efficient procurement operations for indirect goods and services.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop strong partnerships with key suppliers to drive innovation, cost savings, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and regular business reviews.
- Implement supplier development programs to strengthen the supply base and ensure alignment with company values and standards.
Cost Optimization and Risk Management
- Identify and deliver cost savings opportunities while maintaining quality, compliance, and operational performance.
- Lead efforts to mitigate supply chain risks, including sourcing redundancy, geopolitical risks, and supplier financial stability.
- Ensure procurement processes align with regulatory and ethical standards, including FDA, ISO, and other applicable guidelines.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Leverage analytics and market intelligence to inform procurement strategies and decision-making.
- Implement advanced procurement tools and technologies to streamline processes and improve transparency.
