AVP, US L&H Performance

This position will work alongside a group of actuaries & finance professionals whose purpose is to ensure existing financial information and future projections are understood & communicated timely during the close process. Strong communication skills are required as the leader and the team are dependent upon other functional areas to produce data that then can be analyzed and presented to understand overall profitability in the current moment and across a long term time frame. This position will require close coordination across the organization with different stakeholders who will be responsible for gathering accurate & timely information to be shared with executive management to make business decisions. Strong analytical and communication skills are required to consume and challenge the financial information and to best represent an analytical review to the management team.
Communication, stakeholder management and change management:
- Ensure that a holistic finance view of performance (Balance sheet as well as income statement) is clearly communicated within finance and L&H
- Promote the adoption of new Performance KPIs; explaining the drivers and implications clearly to all stakeholders
- Support the VP US L&H Performance in leading change management in relation to the measurement of the Performance of the business
- Provide and explain Key Performance Indicators to key stakeholders in the US and across SCOR Group.
- Develop executive level presentations that can be shared with senior managment team detailing full scope of situation and provide financial information that is actionable.
- Partner closely within US Corporate Actuarial team, especially the financial development and valuation teams to explain reasonableness of results & suggest modeling enhancements from insights.
Performance analysis:
- Measure and monitor Performance of the business using Performance KPIs Support the production of the quarterly landings for group IFRS 17 purposes.
- Ensure timely & accurate delivery of the quarterly & annual deliverables for the team, with a keen eye to optimize processes & attain efficiencies.
- Support the development performance measurement KPIs under Solvency II/ IFRS17 for the U L&H business & create a repeatable process to monitor performance against them
- Support the understanding and analysis of quarterly financial information relating to US L&H reinsurance business in accordance with Solvency II and IFRS17.
- Support leadership in the analysis of underlying performance and identify emerging trends.
- Develops, maintains and reviews analyses as needed of financial results, with a key focus to improve efficiency, business insights & auditability
- Explaining drivers of change in sensitivity analysis by having a solid understanding of business composition.
Forecasting of financial performance
- Forecasting of financial performance for operating plan and full year landing update purposes
- Support & direct the financial development of the US L&H strategic and operating plan working closely with key business partners.
- Perform the production process of IFRS 17 Operational Planning for the US market to ensure timely submission, good data quality and documentation of business drivers /key risks to plan
- Provide effective communication of plan progression for each iteration of operating plans and the corresponding plan assumptions / key risks to plan.
Transformation and simplification
- Responsible for simplifying and transforming relevant processes such that majority of time is devoted to analysis of results versus production of figures (80/20 split expected between analysis/production)
- Contribute to development of tools within context of wider group developments and to adoption of available technology in order to maximise the efficiency of our processes.
- Utilize technology to perform job functions more efficiently and to further automate the production processes. Share technology solutions with other associates.
- 7+ years of financial analysis experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial science or relevant work experience
- Robust analytic and critical thinking skills with strong problem-solving ability
