This position is housed at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Santee-Wateree Center for Mental Health, 2611 Liberty Hill Road, Camden, SC 29020. This position will serve the Santee-Wateree catchment area.Under limited supervision, you will serve on the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team providing evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model. This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.
Responsibilities for the Registered Nurse, Non-institutional:
- Provide direct services to ACT patients to include but not limited to: assessing the health, social, psychiatric and medical needs of Center patients; administering scheduled intramuscular medications to patients as ordered by prescribers; monitoring patients regularly for beneficial effects, side effects, and other medication related issues; and developing strategies to maximize taking medications as prescribed.
- Engage in health promotion, prevention and education activities.
- Ensure patients are seen in accordance with their needs (medical/psychiatric appointments).
- Complete clinical documentation using collaborative documentation and ensure services are documented in accordance with BHDD/ OMH/QA requirements.
- Participate in clinical supervision and daily treatment team meetings.
- Comply with Corporate Compliance, Policy and Risk Management Plan. Ensure completion of prior authorizations per policy. Pursue professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education and licensure.
- Perform all job duties & provide all services & documentation in compliance with CARF, BHDD/OMH, SWMHC, Quality Assurance, Compliance, HIPAA, Transcultural, & Productivity Standards, Center Policies & Procedures, Corporate Compliance, Fire and Safety, and all legal responsibilities and requirements.
Examples of duties
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- A bachelor's degree in nursing and two (2) years' experience; or a three (3) years diploma and two (2) years' experience; or an associate degree in nursing and two (2) years' experience as a registered nurse, one (1) of which must have been in a community health program. One (1) year experience working with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and working knowledge of psychiatric medications.
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the SC Board of Nursing.
- Ability to lift 5lbs.
- Ability to operate a state vehicle.
- Ability to complete MAPS.
Qualifications
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
