A Postdoctoral Research Associate I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jason Karnes in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. Dr. Karnes's laboratory conducts research in precision medicine, focused on cardiac and immuno-pharmacogenomics. We employ clinical and translational research approaches to determine genetic variation associated with efficacy and safety of widely prescribed medications. Work will include development of bioinformatic pipelines and assessment of genomic signals in drug response through genome-wide and multi-omics studies. Researchers with experience in cloud computing and utilizing data from the All of Us Research Program are particularly well-suited for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities- Review literature, conceptualize hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, analyze results, and publish in peer-reviewed literature.
- Build bioinformatic pipelines for analysis of genomic, electronic health records, and survey data associated with large scale biorepositories, such as the All of Us Research Program dataset.
- Analyze multi-modal and multi-omics data from clinical studies to facilitate discovery of biomarkers that influence drug response and adverse drug reactions.
- Prepare manuscripts and extramural grants, communicate analysis results with PI and collaborators, and present research results at conferences and national/international meetings.
- The exercise of independent discretion and judgement in carrying out research tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Scientific writing capabilities and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work in a team, as well as an ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD or professional doctorate with prior research training/experience in genomics, pharmaceutics or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience analyzing data on the All of Us Research program, Researcher Workbench.
- Experience with genomic technologies and analysis of genomic data.
- Experience with cloud computing infrastructure.
