Position Title Lead Environmental Services Technician Overnight FLSA Non-Exempt FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 40 Work Schedule Monday-Friday Overnight Grade 6 Compensation Range $19.86-26.09 hourly Summary
To act as a representative for the environmental supervisor when absent or unavailable and to lead the shift or area accordingly in their absence. To provide training, a clean, safe, healthy and environmental-friendly campus for students, staff and visitors through effective and efficient performance of assigned environmental service functions and tasks.
Essential Role Responsibilities
Follows the environmental services technician program for the area assigned within the guidelines provided by the Environmental Services Supervisor and the Environmental Services Manager such as: in the Health Science building and Children’s Learning Center, the Environmental Service Technicians must use specialized cleaning techniques that use accelerated hydrogen peroxide products when wiping down surfaces and cleaning floors. The Leads will assist with training individual in this technique to prevent cross contamination. The Leads will assist with the training of individuals in proper dispose of general waste in these buildings and if blood borne pathogens are involved they are also trained to use the right PPE (personal protective equipment). Responsible for coverage of areas due to absences of environmental services technicians.

Duties Lead Environmental Services Technician:
• Assign staff to necessary areas when shorthanded to ensure work is completed
• Maintain attendance sheets for signing in and out
• Issuance/retrieval of radios to/from staff
• Assist with training of staff as needed.
• Issue cleaning supplies/equipment
• Make minor repairs to vacuums and any equipment used for environmental services
• Report any incidents that involves employee(s)by filling out correct form(s)
• Dusts walls, furniture, and computer/keyboards
• Keep supply and wet closets organized and clean
• Detail cleaning weekly to include blinds, ledges, cabinets, vents, etc.
• Cleans and re-supplies restrooms including the urinal cartridges
• Clean steps in stairwells
• Dress tables for college events
• Keep supply and wet closets organized and clean
• Communicates with clients to achieve a good working relationship and knowledge of the areas schedules and specific needs
• Report minor requests for repairs in their assigned areas of responsibility
• Performs moves and set ups as assigned
• Maintains a daily written schedule of activities performed
• Performs other related duties as required

Minimum Education Required High School or equivalent Experience Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One year institutional or commercial environmental services experience.
• Knowledge of environmental services chemicals and equipment and their operation.
• The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Pleasant and professional demeanor
• Service oriented and flexible
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
• Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college’s sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Physical Demand Summary
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. 12 inches off the ground and place on a flatbed cart, lift 30 lbs. from floor to overhead.
• Knowledge of the use of protective clothing and safety equipment
• Exposure to noise and other adverse environmental conditions including cleaning equipment noise, exposure to weather in moving from one building to another in inclement weather, exposure to dust and dirt, exposure to cleaning chemicals and working on ladders and scaffolds.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Mandatory overtime required for special events such as commencement and others and as required.
