OVERVIEW

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for directing sugar warehousing operations on a per shift basis.  His/her team is responsible for achieving results through effective planning and implementation of safe operating procedures, GMPs and regulatory compliance. Will supervise a work force approximately 30-40 union hourly employees, directing all activities of the receiving, warehousing and shipment of products.

 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure production/packaging/palletizing lines are meeting standard
  • Overall responsibility for product shipping by truck
  • Optimization of facility layout and inventory management
  • Performance monitoring and reporting 
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Departmental budgeting
  • Ensure Warehousing and Shipping areas are audit ready at all times

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Coordinate on-shift operations with other department superintendents – Process, Maintenance, and Packaging through regular communication. 
  • Coordinate equipment set-up, start up, running, and shutdown, in a 24/7 operation while maintaining compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. 
  • Be an effective steward of Company resources (financial, physical, proprietary knowledge, etc)
  • Meet and exceed customer needs through safe, reliable, production and high quality customer service. 
  • Communicate with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Lead Warehouse Department in continuous improvement processes for assigned shift.
  • Develop supervisory and hourly personnel to ensure optimum use of labor force assigned to each shift.  Evaluate the performance of employees.
  • Handle employee and labor relations on assigned shift within limits of the contract, delegated authority and established guidelines.
  • Assist with creation and revisions to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), Work Aids (WA), etc.
  • Collect, review, resolve discrepancies and publish production data for earnings, labor efficiency, scrap and material usage for Warehouse Department.
  • Ensure employee health, safety and no harm to the environment.
  • Responsible for training and safety of assigned personnel and for housekeeping, safety, sanitation and equipment maintenance in assigned areas. Ensure that GMP standards are maintained.
  • Position will require supervising employees throughout the warehouse, walking most of the shift.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 or more years of experience leading a Warehousing operation in a manufacturing environment with a BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college/university required OR 5 or more years of experience leading a Warehousing operation with a High school diploma or GED required. 

 

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Prior union experience required
  • Must have a working knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and train employees in a team based environment.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Industrial food processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices is required
