7a-5:30p with rotating weekendsI. Position Summary:
To strengthen, personalize and enhance the relationship between the patient and the
hospital by maintaining a specific, effective channel through which patients can seek
solutions to problems, concerns and unmet needs. To act as a liaison between the
patient, family and hospital staff during hospitalization providing necessary mediation to
ensure patient rights are respected. The Patient Relations Representative will also serve
as a liaison between the patient and the Risk Management Department in handling
patient and/or family complaints. Representative will intercede in and handle as many
patient/visitor complaints as possible before referring to Administration. To provide
emotional support to patient families during major trauma, code, serious illness or death
situations as deemed appropriate.
II. Qualifications:
A. Education & Training:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
B. Experience:
One (1) year professional experience in public relations, social services, or related
field. Patient Representative Experience or experience relating to individuals in
stressful situations.
C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
None.
D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Self-directed with customer service, problem solving/resolution, conflict
management and consensus-building skills. Ability to use independent judgment
in the coordination of complex issues. Written verbal and non-verbal
communication skills using tact and diplomacy. Able to prioritize and multi-task.
Interpersonal relationship skills. Computer and organizational skills. Able to
handle stressful and traumatic situations.
Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
