What You’ll Do:
As a Retail Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, planning and scheduling the movement of services, finished goods and related materials through the production and inventory process for our 5 stores in the Massachusetts market, and assorting 4 medical locations in Maine. This includes placing orders, forecasting sales, reviewing invoices, reconciling accounts, and identifying new opportunities as they arise. You must work with these companies consistently to build a strong relationship, resulting in lasting partnerships and deals.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships and communicate effectively with vendors
- Identify and recommend business opportunities with a multitude of accounts
- Meet individual monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly projections, including out of stock percentages and profit margins for assigned accounts while also working toward a common company goal.
- Manage the full lifecycle of buying: product innovation, vendor meetings, costing negotiations, executive reporting, pricing analysis, promotional calendars, and product exit strategies
- Create purchasing strategies that tie to financial goals of each dispensary, state, and region
- Manage appropriate inventory levels to ensure dispensaries can exceed sales expectations
- Build reports to enhance decision making at all levels of the organization
- Work with store operations team to craft localized assortments and sales forecasts to drive profitability
- Attending vendor sponsored events, tradeshows, and off-site meetings with vendors as needed.
Who You Are:
- You have outstanding interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- You operate successfully under pressure, thrive in a changing, fast-paced environment
- 2-3 years of experience with inventory management, new product inventory planning, buying, merchandising, supply chain, forecasting tools, and assortment decision-making
- You have knowledge of business data analysis and basic business software
- Positive and energetic attitude and personality comfortable with rapid change and growth
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Experience in Tableau and Microsoft F&O or ERP is a plus
- Experience in the cannabis industry is a plus.
