Responsibilities:

Duties performed include but are not limited to: 

  • Performs routine and some Stat Diagnostic Cat Scan imaging exams.
  • Prepares patient for procedures. assists Clinicians/ providers. Prepares, operates and cares for the CT/ Radiography equipment being used.
  • Develops/processes images /CDs when needed.
  • Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties and service programs.
  • Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires
  • Assumes responsibilities for all CT technical work, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness for the type of test ordered checking previous reports/ Dicom File uploads, documents information from and communicates with Reading institutions for routine and Stat reads. Reviews Images for quality and informs referring physician of Critical findings.
  • Assists physicians during procedures as necessary
  • Keeps records of daily Quality assurance, preventative maintenance  and calibrations as needed,
  • Orders and maintains par levels of inventory for Consumables and other radiology department supplies
  • Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment of assigned areas to Vendor Field Service engineer, notifies radiology director.
  • Update other departments Care Coordination, ACP’s, Clinicians of Radiology department shortages or disruption of service
  • Manage Radiology department Radiation safety program in accordance with NYC Health Code Article 175 overseeing facility compliance in Radiation protection dosimetry Record keeping, film Badge collection/ submission
  • Registration and operation of Diagnostic Imaging equipment
  • Reporting of safety events and quality issues, Equipment acceptance testing record keeping
  • Schedules physicist appointments for Quarterly / Annual equipment acceptance testing, maintains staff dosimetry reports send to physicist for review & signature. 
  • Retrieve, download prior exams, Upload reports to Athena 
  • Leads technical troubleshooting of Radiology IT issues with Athena, Ambra, Power share and other Atria platforms and escalates to the responsible personnel for resolution.
  • Coordinate requested reports for & acts as a liaison during site inspections by regulatory agencies such as NYC DOH, ACR for general radiology (XRAY, CT, Dexa & Mammography)
  • Leads CT Accreditation compliance and renewal with ACR
  • Performs other duties as assigned, Exercises professional judgment in performance of imaging procedures.

 

Salary: $150,000 - $170,000

 

Requirements

  • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
  • Passing advanced CT examination /certification within 1 year from date of hire.
  • DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6 month orientation.
  • Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before end of probationary period.
