Position Number: 110570 Position Title (Classification Title):  Assistant Professor of Theatre - Lighting and Scenic Design 110570 Working Title:  Assistant Professor of Theatre - Lighting and Scenic Design Job Summary: This position is responsible for designing mainstage productions, two musicals and two plays per season, or overseeing student designers for those productions, teaching courses in scenic and lighting design and technology, structural design, as well as other courses in the field of theatre. The Ideal candidate will engage in artist mentoring for students, academic advising, serve on academic committees, and serve as an active and energetic member of recruiting for the department of theatre. This position collaborates with the Instructor of Technical Direction on all of the scenic, lighting, props, paints areas of the technical BFA and productions. Department Theatre FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Holds an MFA or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee engages in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities. Position Qualifications: Holds an MFA or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of professional and/or academic work in scenic and lighting design and technology.
• MFA in Theatrical Design or Production
• Successful College-level teaching experience preferred
• Extensive and varied professional design experience
• Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
• Ability to work effectively and patiently with students
• Drive and desire to develop a strong, high-quality technical theatre program
• Drafting and structural design desired
