Job Description:

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Platform Security Data Science team. This role will concentrate on identifying issues around fraud, cheating, player interactions, trust, and safety. This team partners closely with game teams, researchers, operations, and other engineering teams to help build a safe and welcoming environment for all gamers.

The ideal candidate is passionate about machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, and deep learning in addition to having experience building scalable, maintainable, and reliable data fueled products. Additionally, the ideal candidate has leadership qualities including the ability to measure the business impact of ML/AI initiatives, manage projects/timelines, and mentor teammates.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days. Our primary studio for this role is Irvine, CA

Responsibilities

• Advance Machine Learning capabilities in Platform Security and partner with other data practitioners across the greater Blizzard Entertainment organization.

• Develop a portfolio of Machine Learning products and work closely with engineers to help improve the platform to leverage more AI and Machine Learning services.

• Engineer robust data pipelines to support feature engineering and visualization of data.

• Make generative AI applications that deliver business values.

• Build solutions to deploy, automate, and maintain models seamlessly on production systems.

• Architect platform-level solutions for machine learning systems.

• Communicate machine learning models and products to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives and game team leadership.

• Be a part of the wider machine learning community within Blizzard to share ideas and learnings.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years’ hands on experience developing machine learning models at scale.

• Master’s or PhD with a specialization in deep learning, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, statistics, applied math, algorithm design, or a related field.

• Expertise in statistics, data engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

• Capable of building scalable and performant endpoints and services.

• Experience with ML Ops and model monitoring.

• Expert proficiency with SQL and Python.

• Is current with industry advancements in generative AI to drive innovation.

• Experience with version control, database architecture, and cloud services (GCP/Azure).

• Strong problem-solving as well as solid written and verbal communication skills.

• Passion for video games.

Pluses

• Experience in building and deploying generative AI systems in real-world applications.

• A proven track record of original contributions to machine learning or statistics.

• Able to invent and prototype novel machine learning algorithms from scratch.

• Hands-on experience with DBT, Databricks, Big Query, or similar tools.

• Experience with Blizzard Entertainment games.
