Outside working hours if other than M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Operating Hours are Monday-Thursday: 8am-7pm, Friday: 8am-5pm, & Saturday: 9am-1pm. Rotating shifts are required.

Job Summary and Description

Performs moderate to complex work providing advising to students from entry to completion.  Responsible for implementing the academic advising strategies and achievement of student learning outcomes.  May provide services for special populations.

Additional job duties include monitoring and following-up on student progress and enrollment to ensure VA procedures and requisites are met.  Reviews various documents to assure students meet enrollment requirements for approved degree or certificate program, GPA requirements, and benefit program requirements.  Monitors VA funded payments to students and the college as required; follows-up with, and resolves tuition payment discrepancy issues; investigates delays and clarification of payments with VA.  Processes changes in enrollment status for adds, drops, schedule changes; submits related reports to Veterans Administration; coordinates concurrent enrollment with other colleges.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.  
  • Two years of related experience, preferably in a college setting. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three years’ experience working with veterans and VA Programs in higher education. 
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Four years of related experience.

Required License and Certifications:

  • Must possess CAEL level 3 case management training certification or be able to obtain training within 12 months of hire. 
  • Must be certified in key competencies as defined by Student Success leadership within 12 months of hire.
