Job Description:

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the head men’s soccer coach, the Part-time Assistant Men's Soccer Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the University’s varsity men’s soccer program. The assistant coach will primarily provide assistance in coaching instruction to men’s soccer student-athletes during practices and games. This position requires frequent interaction with the head coach, assistant coaches and other members of team’s support staff to help promote a successful and positive athletic experience for all men’s soccer student-athletes.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for enhancing the performance of men’s soccer student-athletes.
  • Assist with the implementation of the practice plans athletes approved and/or established by the head coach.
  • Works with coaches to determine progress and making needed individual adjustments.
  • Assists in player development through additional individual/small group training at the request of student athlete. Attends practices and games.
  • Assists coaching staff with administrative tasks, as assigned by the head coach. This includes but is not limited to team travel, meal planning, video analysis, data collection, database entry, locker room and equipment organization.
  • Assists in the recruiting efforts designed to attract academically qualified and athletically gifted student-athletes to program.
  • Evaluates prospective student-athletes in-person and through reports from high school coaches on their athletic and academic performance.
  • Keeps all recruiting records in good order and provides regular reports to the head coach on the recruitment status of each prospective student-athlete.
  • Reports any major concerns or attention for recruitment-related issues to the head coach.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.
  • 15 hours/wk.

Salary Range:

  • $21.00-$22.86/hr. (commensurate with experience).

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Travel Required:

  • Some travel may be required.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree encouraged. 
  • Approximately 1-2 years coaching experience or experience playing soccer at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
