Department Summary

The UNT Career Center is responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Career Readiness, Coaching and Education, Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students. The Career Center operates as a centralized department with a decentralized approach and sustains collaborative partnerships with academic colleges, student affairs departments, employers, and alumni. Our vision is to empower students and alumni to identify and achieve individual goals for career success. Our mission is to design and deliver high-quality career services to UNT students and alumni through collaboration with campus, local and global partnerships.

Position Overview

The Associate Director for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences of the UNT Career Center serves in a centralized work environment with a decentralized model. The Career Coaching Teams are located in the office of the College on the main Denton Campus. The Career Center offers comprehensive services directly to students including career decision making, internship preparation and advising, job search and professional development. The Career Center works in partnership and collaborates closely with the CLASS and PAHS Colleges and academic departments on career and professional development and provides tailored services to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff. The staff of the Career Center are part of the larger professional development program of the Colleges and supports career readiness course instruction. The CLASS and PAHS staff in the Career Center supports employer relation engagement through career fairs and recruiting activities. The Associate Director for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences of the UNT Career Center reports to the Senior Associate Director and collaborates on the management and delivery of career services to students and academic partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Extensive knowledge of career advising and development
* Knowledge of University operations, policies and procedures
* Working knowledge of computer technology and applications in the career services field
* Ability to deal tactfully with students, individually and in group situations
* Excellent presentation
