About the role

To qualify for this position you must meet one of the requirements listed below. GS 5: Specialized Experience: Must possess one (1) one or more years of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Medical Reimbursement Technician position. To be creditable, the experience must have been equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes following instructions about timeliness, objectives and relative priorities for doing administrative work; communicating with other staff as necessary to discuss administrative concerns; reviewing and determining the appropriateness of administrative data. OR GS 5: Education: MUST possess four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Transcripts Required.) OR GS 5: COMBINATION of EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as described above to fully meet the requirements of this position. For GS-5 level positions, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR GS 6: Specialized Experience: MUST possess one (1) year of specialized experience equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Medical Reimbursement Technician position? To be creditable, the experience must have been equivalent to the GS-05 in Federal service. Specialized experience includes following instructions about timeliness, objectives, and relative priorities for doing administrative work; communicating with other staff as necessary to discuss administrative concerns; reviewing and determining the appropriateness of administrative data; verifying claims for billing purposes ensuring eligibility and referring questionable coding for review; and interpreting insurance policies and requirements for billing.
