About the role

Billboard is hiring a Senior Director of Events to join the team, NY or LA based. Billboard is the world's most influential music media brand reaching key executives and tastemakers in and around the music business through Billboard Magazine and millions of music fans through Billboard.com and Billboard Events.

The Events Senior Director role will be responsible for organizing and producing signature events for Billboard as well as events surrounding key consumer and industry cultural moments for the brand. This position will work to develop the overall event experience, production budgets, event ticketing/registration, and handle logistics from start to finish for each event across the Billboard Events calendar.

In this role you must be a seasoned event producer that is resourceful, a creative thinker, and an eager event marketing professional with technical production knowledge. You must have strong hands-on experience planning and executing events in a variety of formats including consumer facing, industry summits and forums and private sponsored events.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy that aligns with the brand's objectives, enhances brand visibility, and engages both consumer and industry audiences.
  • Event Production and Management:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of a diverse portfolio of events, ensuring the event is within budget, and produced to the highest standards of creativity and impact. This role will be required to participate in brainstorms to help engage sponsors and pitching activations that align with the clients’ goals from ideation to execution onsite.
  • Team Management and Development:
    • Lead and inspire a team of events professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability. Provide guidance, training, and support to enable team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Cultivate strong relationships with artists, industry partners, sponsors, and vendors. Work closely with internal teams including sales, marketing, presale/post-sale teams, branded content, PR, and talent teams to ensure cohesive and impactful event experiences. This role will work alongside the sales and marketing departments to develop and price concepts for sponsors to active onsite at Billboard events. This requires working closely with the presale team to package these sponsor opportunities and partner with project managers and branded content teams to execute managing vendors, budgets, and report on sponsor deliverables onsite.
  • Budget Management and Reporting:
    • Manage event budgets meticulously, ensuring maximum ROI. Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on event performance, audience engagement, and market trends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in event management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the music, entertainment, or related creative industry.
  • Proven track record of conceptualizing and executing large-scale events and activations, with a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, innovation, and impact.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating a team.
  • Excellent project management, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the music industry and its key players, trends, and dynamics.
  • Ability to travel as required for event scouting, planning, and execution.

    Typical Salary: $ 105K-120k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
