Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.
Job Summary:
The Talent Acquisition Specialist is remotely based with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for developing and implementing onboarding strategies, facilitating a smooth transition for new employees, and contributing to the overall success of our talent acquisition process. This position reports directly to the Manager, Talent Acquisition and does not have direct reports.
Job Responsibilities:
- Acts as a liaison between new hires and various departments to ensure a smooth transition and address any concerns.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance communication and collaboration during the onboarding process.
- Oversees and executes background checks and drug screens for prospective employees.
- Coordinates and conducts new hire orientation sessions to provide essential information about company policies, culture, and expectations.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation related to new hires, including employment contracts, tax forms, and other required paperwork.
- Ensures new hires have the necessary tools, resources, and information to start their roles successfully.
- Assists with sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates to identify top talent for various positions within the organization.
- Develops and implements comprehensive onboarding strategies to welcome and integrate new hires seamlessly into the organization.
- Works closely with local management to ensure a smooth transition and integration into the company culture.
- Evaluates and enhances onboarding programs to maximize employee engagement and retention.
- Gathers feedback from new hires to assess the effectiveness of onboarding programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Travels to new store acquisitions to facilitate the onboarding process for newly acquired employees.
- Adapts onboarding strategies to align with specific needs and dynamics of newly acquired locations.

Competencies (skills, knowledge, and abilities):
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organization skills.
- Experience in UKG preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of talent acquisition best practices, onboarding strategies, and employee engagement.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful onboarding programs, including running background checks and drug screens.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Willingness to travel to new store acquisitions as part of the onboarding process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or other related field.
- 2+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, HR, or a related field.
- 2+ years of administrative field.
Travel:
- This position requires some travel as needed for new store acquisitions.
