About the role
AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts) The Clinical Director of Counseling Services provides leadership for the AMDA community within, offering comprehensive care for students. The Clinical Director engages in treatment (individual & group), preventative programming, and other such initiatives. Primary Responsibilities:

- Work with students individually and in groups to promote optimum mental health.
- Provide comprehensive crisis intervention, including assessment, referral, and follow-through with all impacted members of the school community.
- Complete safety evaluations of students as needed.
- Collaborate with DOS in identifying trends in order to inform direction of the ever-changing campus landscape.
- Provide case management and linkage to community-based mental health resources.
- Develop and implement mental health-related programming to support student success and retention.
- Provide clinical guidance and training to key members of the school community, including faculty, staff, and student leaders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the field and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Maintain records and provide clinical documentation and communication with external practitioners, as necessary.
- Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related field.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent psychological licensure required. Preference given to individuals with a background in Counseling with significant coursework and experience in counseling students.
- Minimum of two (2) years work experience in a clinical, education, or treatment facility preferred.
- Well-versed in the understanding of disability and medical conditions and how these affect the student's ability to learn and participate in the collegiate experience.
- Knowledge of all federal and state laws, privacy regulations and other best practices applicable in the practice of professional counseling (NASW Code of Ethics).
- Experience in a college/university setting or in late adolescent/young adult development preferred.
- Experience working with private health insurance plans/benefits preferred (PPO and HMO).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information required (HIPAA Background).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure overall student wellbeing
- Some evening and weekend hours are required
- Rate Range: $85,000 - $95,000
- Work Location: New York Campus (100% in person)
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (9 am – 6 pm), may be required to work an alternate schedule which could include evenings and/or weekends based on student calendar and department needs
- This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check
