Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of highly transactional SQL Server databases, especially VLDBs.
  • Configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of SQL Server AlwaysOn and FCI setups.
  • T-SQL workload troubleshooting, analysis, and optimization
  • Ability to understand and code using T-SQL.
  • Thorough understanding of database design, normalization, OLTP/OLAP and the application of those concepts.
  • Lead/assist in the planning/installation/configuration of Database implementations, including system software and third-party system tools, applications, and products.
  • Routinely analyze procedures and batch code created by others for performance tuning and optimization against highly transactional VLDB environments.
  • SSIS implementations and ETL development/tuning. Cloud ETL and Big Data technologies experience a plus (Ex. GCP PubSub).
  • SSRS/PowerBI installations/configurations including SSL setups. PowerBI data platform and visualization experience a plus.
  • Cloud GCP/Azure Database Platform experience a plus
  • Routinely perform root cause analysis and identify issues with associated application and technical teams.
  • Monitor/maintain environments natively and with third party tools for diagnosing/troubleshooting database and related technologies.
  • Play a pivotal role in change management for database backend of related application systems.
  • Proactive capacity planning of database systems per application and business requirement.
  • The ability and desire to learn and thrive in a collaborative, 24x7, highly visible environment.
  • Estimate effort for self and agree on schedules with Database and Project Managers.
  • Liaise with manager; keep manager informed of progress.
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation (Database, Architecture, etc.) to assist with team redundancy and knowledge transfer.
  • Analyze and diagnose problems reported to the help desk, socializing and escalating support issues where necessary.
  • Discuss issues/requirements with client(s) and associated teams.
  • Work collaboratively with development teams on database design and data modelling with a focus on improving SQL efficiency and fast application performance.
  • Effectively support Sales, BSG and Professional Services.
  • Implement, periodically test and review appropriate data access and security measures, including access control, audit, backup/restore and system rebuild & recovery processes.
  • Implement and continuously improve the database infrastructure environment. Provide fast and value-added services to the organization.
  • Participate in the process of ensuring that identified Business Continuity measures are implemented, documented, and regularly tested, to enable continue operations of systems identified as requiring such protection in accordance with the corporate Disaster Recovery program.
  • Stay current with the database and related technologies.
  • Perform software upgrades and new software installation both pro-actively and in response to requests from users of systems, including any necessary patches to database systems and applications to ensure continuing stable and secure operation.
  • Provide an ad-hoc support service to users of all computer systems, troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
  • Carry out prescribed programs of computer system performance management and capacity planning for systems as designated by Management to ensure the necessary system capacity and performance is available as required.
  • Pro-actively seek and acquire technical training, vocational training and market and product awareness such that skills remain current, relevant, and valued within Altera Digital Health.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or relevant database experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years SQL Server experience in an enterprise production environment.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of database concepts using Microsoft SQL Server
  • GCP/Azure experience a plus
  • 1-3 years healthcare industry a plus
