The Role:  

Inpatient Physical Rehab Registered Nurse (RN) - Per diem

The Opportunity:

Collaboration and communication between multidisciplinary team members is MaineGeneral’s key to a successful rehab program. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our high-acuity 12 bed Inpatient Physical Rehab Unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Our goal is to assist our patients to attain and maintain maximum function, leading to 75% of patient’s going home upon discharge. The rehabilitation staff nurse assists patients in adapting to an altered lifestyle, while providing a therapeutic environment for patients and their family’s development. The rehabilitation staff nurse designs and implements treatment strategies that are based on scientific nursing theory related to self-care and that promotes physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health.

The Work:

Our team specializes in assisting patients in their recovery from stroke, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, traumatic brain injuries, joint replacements, multiple traumas, and cardiac/pulmonary disorders. Many of our patients are medically complex, requiring cardiac telemetry, IV medications, advanced wound care, blood transfusions, tracheostomy care, artificial nutrition, etc.

• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

You Have:

• A valid state of Maine RN license or ability to obtain licensure in a timely fashion required.
• Previous RN work experience, new grads welcome to apply!
