ITW Air Flow Management delivers differentiated value to the North American Automotive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) by addressing industry trends of autonomous driving, display integration and customized environments. We are a producer of interior components such as Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs) and Air Registers bringing in approximately $88M of revenue.
We are part of a division with 3 locations and approximately 530+ employees in North America. Our manufacturing location are in Westminster, MA and Reynosa, Mexico. In addition, our Sales, Engineering and Product Development team are located in Troy, MI. This role will be in our Troy Facility.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will be the technical project lead with responsibility for the function of the component being proposed to the end customer. Through intense discovery at the OEM, develop a high degree of customer intimacy to derive true customer needs from the customer’s perspective. Further refine these needs, with the help of the Sales team, to develop innovative solutions with a focus on patent protection. Actively participate in innovation project idea generation as well as proof of concept initiatives. Lead the product development efforts through all areas of expertise (including, but not limited to, CAD engineering, BOM development, bench testing, interpreting reports on analysis & testing, etc.).
- Direct, guide, coordinate, and provide technical expertise in the development of product designs that meet or exceed customer expectations/requirements
- Maintain and build customer intimacy across functions (engineering, research and development, supplier quality, NVH, vehicle testing, core teams, etc.) and hierarchy levels and ensure proper management of the ITW AFM image
- Technical representative responsible for leading product design based on customer inputs and/or requirements. Perform product design analysis, inspect, and diagnose post test/field return ITW components and issue subject reports to customer technical representatives
- Negotiate and gain acceptance of customer DVP&R and schedule to ensure ITW component functionality and compliance
- Functions as the face of ITW AFM NA to the customer technical counterparts. Ensure the voice of the customer is well documented and communicated
- Guides and steers customer technical counterpart toward the best solution for ITW design for manufacturing, VA/VE, with a focus on overall ITW profitability. Lead VA/VE activities to ensure implementation per plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years in Production Design
- 2 years as a “lead” or Senior Engineer
- OEM Customer Interaction
