What will you do?
A day in the life of a Retail Merchandiser at The North Face looks a little like this.
The North Face has an amazing opportunity within the Americas Category Merchandising Team for a Merchandiser to drive our seasonal assortment and architecture strategies. Partnering with the channel and global merchandising teams, you will support the overall merchandising strategic direction for Youth and Logowear through assortment management. You need to be passionate about product, have great business acumen, embody curiosity, be able to react quickly, and thrive in a team environment. As a Merchandiser, you will own the assortment architecture and segmentation strategies across DTC and Wholesale. You will work closely with the Sr Manager of Merchandising to set strategies that meet the financial objectives of the channel and build relevant, consumer-led, insight informed, seasonal product assortments.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
- Create the assortment architecture strategy for Youth and Logowear by utilizing data, consumer insights, and competitive research. Apply in-depth knowledge of consumer, marketplace, product and competitor insights to help build a long-term vision and framework to seasonal line plans.
- Analyze product performance and results of previous strategies – make tactical adjustments to increase profitability on future assortments
- Own all product classification and attribution work, following data governance principles strictly as outlined.
- Strong understanding of assigned marketplace, including regional difference and across diverse channels of distribution. Ensure you remain current with competitor product offerings, the regional marketplace and consumer trends. Utilize findings to guide decisions.
- Strong business acumen and experience building long term and short term strategy
- Ability to lead, influence and play an integral role within a broader team, connect the department and individual expectations to company vision.
- Ability to work with others as part of cross-functional team, build consensus, and achieve results across a variety of distinct groups. Work in close partnership with America’s Wholesale, America’s DTC, and global merchandising teams
- Drive key initiatives to support the franchise management, amplify key innovations and 3-year planning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written, strong cross functional collaboration skills required. Strong presentation skills, proven ability to influence in front of accounts.
What do you need to succeed?

Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3+ years of experience and professional achievements.

- Intermediate to Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Detail-oriented
- First-rate business acumen
- Sound decision-making skills and the facility to plan and prioritize short- and long-range projects
- Flexibility and Agility – quickly understand, assess & problem solve
- Effective verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations
