About the role

We are hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the Weight-Management Program at TriHealth Pharmacy Solutions in Norwood, Ohio. 

Hours are Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. No weekends or holidays.

No hospital experience required. This position is an outpatient role in a closed-door pharmacy, with primary patient communication via telephone.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Active National Pharm Tech Cert (CPhT). Approved cert is through Pharm Tech Cert Board (PCTB) (Required) OR ExCPT Cert by the National Healthcare Association is required.
  • Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician is required.
  • Up to 1 year of experience as Pharmacy Technician. No hospital experience required.  
  • Must be able to compound sterile products and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Familiarity with shipping software (preferred), ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
  • Excellent phone etiquette, including clear communication, active listening, professionalism, and empathy when interacting with patients and providers
  • Strong data entry skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in processing prescriptions, inventory, and patient information
     

Job Overview:

A hospital Pharmacy Technician III is a healthcare professional who plays an integral role in the pharmacy operations. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in the distribution of medications to patients in the hospital (inpatient and outpatient units, emergency room, and operating room). The distribution of medications, includes but is not limited to, selecting, counting, compounding, packing, labeling, and delivering medications. A Pharmacy Technician III is responsible for the preparation of sterile compounds, including chemotherapy and hazardous substances and for maintaining the sterile environment in the IV Room. Employees must be proficient in accessing and viewing the electronic health record and pharmacy automated systems. Employees will work in multiple areas of the pharmacy to maintain competency and broaden skills for all areas of the job scope.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of compounded sterile products, including CHEMOTHERAPY AND HAZARDOUS medications while following current guidelines and policy (USP 797, USP 800, ASHP, NIOSH and Board of Pharmacy laws and regulations) and department procedures. Performs hand hygiene and garbing and cleaning and disinfecting of the hoods and room according to policy and keeps accurate cleaning logs. Prioritizes IV medication production appropriately and disposes of IV and chemotherapy/hazardous waste. Adheres to all safety requirements when handling, preparing, labeling, and disposing of chemotherapy and hazardous medications.
  • Assists in non-sterile medication preparation by selecting, counting, compounding, packaging, scanning, labeling, filling, and delivering medications per department guidelines.
