Position Overview
The Principal Specialist, EHS Project Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the EHS strategy and requirements in our new processes, equipment, and future buildings. In addition, this role will serve as our subject matter expert for reviewing and approving automation meeting US/International requirements for Machinery safety and other EHS local requirements. This role will also be our global EHS lead for future mergers, acquisitions and new locations.
This role works directly with teams outside of Exact Sciences, including consulting teams and cross-industry groups, as well as internal teams, including Real Estate, Workplace Solutions Team (Facilities Engineering, PMO, Workspace planning, Process and Control Engineering), Facilities Maintenance, Laboratory Automation and Services, Global EHS Program Team, EHS Site specialists and other internal stakeholders. This role requires a combination of planning, project management, partner engagement, and data analysis skills to ensure success.
This is a hybrid role based in Madison, WI.
Essential Duties
Include but are not limited to the following:
- Drive the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of and effective EHS Change Management program that ensure regulatory compliance and best-in-class safety practices across multiple sites and countries.
- Serve as the Global EHS expert for Management of Change to ensure EHS requirements are met with new equipment installations, product changes, projects, and new office/labs.
- Partner with senior leadership, department heads, managers, and employees to foster collaboration on EHS Change Management and promote a shared commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and country EHS regulations as part of the EHS Change Management process.
- Ensure collaboration and communication of EHS hazards/risk to local EHS Site Specialist including effective hand-off of any EHS related action items.
- Support environmental sustainability initiatives that aim to reduce carbon footprint, waste, water consumption, and emissions, aligning with the organization's long-term sustainability goals.
- Define, implement, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate EHS performance. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on EHS activities, challenges, and successes.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, addressing hazards and implementing corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Proactively seek out industry’s best practices, stay updated on regulatory changes, and incorporate emerging trends into EHS programs to continuously elevate the company’s EHS culture and performance.
- Serve as the Global Machinery Safety Expert to provide technical and process support for electrical, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic systems and guarding. Including leading risk assessments and risk mitigation in machinery safety.
- Build organizational capabilities by providing Machine Safety training development of Machine Safety professionals (automation team and others as appropriate).
- Serve as the Global EHS expert for company merger and acquisition activities.
