None/Not RequiredKidde Fire Protection is currently seeking an experienced accounting controls lead to join our Accounting & Controllership team for the Kidde business headquartered in Wilson, NC. Kidde Fire Protection Systems is a global organization providing fully integrated fire protection systems for aircraft and ground vehicles in both the commercial and government markets.
Are you ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role as a controls lead on our Accounting & Controllership team? You will perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with GAAP and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional, who is motivated, highly analytical, and who can improve internal controls and help drive continuous improvement. They will possess excellent problem-solving skills, outstanding communication abilities, and exceptional time and resource management skills. In addition to supporting general accounting and controls this individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team and lead projects that contribute to the overall success of the organization.
What You Will Do:
- Manage controls and compliance for accounting team, which include administration and training of the controls and compliance software, audit and government controls, and ASA lead.
- Assists on projects, and internal and external audits to ensure quality of project and timely completion.
- Monitors account entries and control activities to ensure accuracy of information.
- Assist with inventory controls and other cycle count analysis
- Performs a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards related to general accounting, general ledger, projects, and / or government accounting, to ensure accuracy of the accounting entries, in accordance with GAAP and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Support the monthly financial close process.
- Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations based on financial data.
- Follows accounting policies and procedures and control processes to ensure work is as per standard defined.
- Actively engage in cross-training with team members to drive functional bench strength.
- Support frequent ad-hoc requests.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the financial management system due to government contractual requirements
- Experience with managing controls and compliance for an accounting team with strict guidelines.
- Experience analyzing data and information necessary to ensure that problems areas are identified, and corrective action is taken.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience interfacing and conducting business with various functional disciplines (Internal auditors, Operations, etc.).
- Experience with SAP, or a comparable, large scale, ERP system.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and influence in a complex matrix organization.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to support the preparation and presentation of written summaries for internal & external dissemination.
- Ability to form and develop relationships with a wide variety of functional roles and organizational levels.
- Exhibits focus, commitment and ownership.
- Self-starter with proven ability to work well across an organization and as a part of a collaborative team
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, graphs/charts, etc.) and Power Point
