Overview:
The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staffing crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response. We are seeking candidates for a full-time Senior Epidemiologist position to lead and coordinate work efforts across teams. The SeniorEpidemiologist plans develops, and conducts epidemiologic investigations, surveillance, and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implement methods of disease control of COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases and conditions of public health significance as allowable by the funding source. They will collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data and prepare epidemiologic reports.
Qualifications:
· Master of Public Health with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience and 5 years of infectious disease surveillance· Experience in outbreak response planning and execution, managing staff, and strategic planning· Ability to perform specialized qualitative and quantitative analysis, conduct research, and collect data· Ability to write descriptive results of analysis and present oral and written information· Ability to assess disease control problems and develop solutions· Knowledge of laws and regulations governing communicable diseases· Experience assessing the availability and adequacy of data sources to support surveillance programs· Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and prepare well-written reports· Knowledge of best practices on collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of disease surveillance data· Knowledge of concepts, principles, methods, and techniques of administering public health programs· Knowledge and experience with relational databases and statistical analysis software (ie, SAS, STATA)· Excellent oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities:
· Leads and performs data activities dealing with the collection and analysis of surveillance activities, epidemiology, and survey data for COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases and conditions of public health significance as allowable by funding source· Development of questionnaires or data collection tools to facilitate a standardized collection of data reports· Drafting of statistical reports· Performs statistical analyses of data sets using analytic tools eg SAS, SPSS, etc· Presents quality data sets and reports findings by using visual tools ie graphs, charts, and maps· Maintains confidentiality of sensitive data sets and reports· Use of database and tracking systems to manage data collection, data entry, and analysis of surveillance programs· Monitors and evaluates data collection procedures to ensure that quality control measures are sustained· Develop and implement strategies necessary to coordinate and conduct surveillance, epidemiologic studies, and investigations associated with infectious disease· Development of protocols and identifies strategies for improving and/or enhancing surveillance data collection, management, and/or monitoring processes· Evaluate and analyze data to make recommendations for public health policies, promotion, and disease prevention
