About the role
The Interventional Gastroenterologist will provide specialized diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to manage complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic diseases. The role involves predominantly advanced endoscopic interventions, multidisciplinary collaboration, patient care, and participation in quality improvement and research initiatives. Administrative and faculty appointments are available.
Clinical Duties
- Perform advanced endoscopic procedures including:
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA)
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Submucosal Dissection (ESD)
- Enteral stent placements, dilation, and hemostasis procedures
- Barrett’s ablation and management of complex polypectomies
- Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary diseases.
- Collaborate with hepatologists, oncologists, surgeons, and radiologists to deliver coordinated patient care.
- On-call responsibilities for emergency endoscopic procedures.
Administrative and Academic Duties
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences.
- Contribute to departmental quality improvement and clinical outcomes initiatives.
- Supervise and teach fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Engage in clinical research and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification (or eligibility) in Gastroenterology.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Advanced/Interventional Endoscopy.
- Valid state medical license and DEA certification.
- Proven proficiency in advanced endoscopic techniques (EUS, ERCP, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
