- Working at night or on weekends will make you eligible for shift differential. To be eligible for shift differentials you must work 4 hours into the shift time to get the differentials (Monday - Thursday 3p – 11p = $4.50 per hour and 11p-7a = $4.75, Friday - Sunday 11p - 7a = $7.00 per hour, or Saturday – Sunday 7a – 3p = $6.00 per hour and 3p – 11p = $6.50 per hour)

MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Couplet Care (Mom/Baby) Unit. This position provides specialized, family-centered care to postpartum mothers and their newborns during the crucial hours and days following birth.
The RN in this role will care for both mother and baby as a dyad, promoting bonding, breastfeeding, and education while ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of both patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and their newborns in a couplet-care model
- Monitor maternal vital signs, bleeding, pain management, and postpartum recovery
- Assess newborns for temperature, feeding, weight, bilirubin levels, and overall adaptation to life outside the womb
- Educate and support families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
- Collaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals
- Administer medications and assist with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding support
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required. Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
