Associate Director – Advanced Controls EPP

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking a Associate Director of Advanced Controls to join our team! The Associate Director of Advanced Controls is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and execution of advanced controls and automation strategies across the organization. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this leadership role ensures alignment with broader engineering objectives and organizational strategy while maintaining focus on safety, operational excellence, and innovation. A key focus of this position is mentoring technical teams on utilizing the proper grade of automation to achieve operational goals without overdesigning or under engineering solutions.

What you will be doing:

Leadership and Strategy

·       Provide strategic direction for advanced controls and automation portfolio to support operational excellence and efficiency across the organization.

·       Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for Controls Engineers and technical teams, guiding them on selecting and implementing the appropriate grade of automation tailored to business, process, and project requirements.

·       Cultivate a culture of right-sizing automation designs, ensuring solutions align with operational needs, future system scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

·       Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment among engineering design, operations, and project teams.

·       Champion the Linde Safety Culture, ensuring safety is foundational to all decisions, designs, and project execution activities.

Technical Execution and Governance

·       Oversee and govern the execution of advanced controls and automation projects, including system design, integration, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

·       Drive compliance with internal engineering and IT standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices for advanced control systems.
