In Apple’s Machine Learning Platform Technology & Infra team we have built the platform that Apple uses for developing machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computer vision applications. As a software engineer on our team, you will be responsible for designing & building user-facing functionalities (APIs, CLIs, Web UIs) for the model training software systems that are part of this platform! Our platform is built using a variety of systems and services, from bare metal to managed infrastructure services, and everything in between. We use existing systems when possible, but do not shy away from building components ourselves. As a team, we have a variety of technical backgrounds, from machine learning PhDs to builders of large-scale production systems. Description
As a software engineer on the Bolt team you have the following responsibilities: - Contribute to the architecture, design, development, and operations of large-scale systems designed for machine learning. These may include, but not limited to, data management systems, data engineering workflow systems, distributed compute systems, and their web portal & web service components. - Partner with data scientists and machine learning engineers across different Apple organizations to define high impact product features and deliver them with quality. In this role you are building the platform upon which other teams will develop data pipelines and machine learning applications. - Collaborate with a group of engineers to deliver high quality products/services. Be able to learn and stay on top of current technologies and apply them in the job.
Minimum Qualifications
- Software development skills, with proficiency in Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js (experience in other front end frameworks is a bonus)
- Experience building APIs either with RESTful or gRPC architecture
- Experience at delivering and maintaining user experiences command-line tools, or web interfaces
- Experience using tools similar to Splunk and Tableau to do data analysis and have data driven approach to delivering solutions
- An intuition for collecting user requirements and translating them into features that deliver clear user value
- Creative, collaborative, and product-focused
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent industry work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in user experience design
- Experience in delivering distributed systems and services in a production setting
- Experience with data visualization
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure like Amazon EC2 and EKS, Google Cloud Platform
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry work experience
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
