Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Integration & Test Engineer – System Integration Engineer (25-162) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, located in Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO., plays a crucial role in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Integrate C2BMC software into the C2BMC test suites at the MDIOC, primarily Virtual servers; develop site and event-specific configurations to support test, war games, and exercise events. Operate and troubleshoot C2BMC systems during test events.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with external National Team (CLAW) personnel to resolve test lab issues
  • Work with C2BMC Operations and Sustainment as well as Level-II support personnel to resolve installation and processing issues
  • Create and modify scripts to extract specific information from log files
  • Perform data analysis of input, internal, and output message data
  • Troubleshoot both test and operational issues
  • Document test results and prepare test status documentation
  • Author Spiral and build-level test plan documents and procedures
  • Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues
  • Assist software development personnel with the investigation and resolution of issues
  • Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documents
  • Develop and execute detailed test plans and procedures to test C2BMC in an integrated environment or to test specific capabilities
  • Plan and lead integration C2BMC tests with external elements and sensors
  • Review and provide feedback on system specifications, development, test, and network documents as necessary
  • Attend meetings with other C2BMC FAs, customers, etc., and represent the Integration team
  • Position is based in Colorado Springs at the MDIOC, but sometimes multi-week travel to customer sites (e.g., EUCOM, CENTCOM) and contractor sites (e.g., Huntsville, HWY83) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Network Engineering, or Mathematics discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience instead of a degree may be considered
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
