Background
The College of Medicine and Health has approximately 4000 students across a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes and over 1500 staff. These are accommodated in a number of University buildings and NHS Trusts however much of this activity is housed in a complex of buildings accessed via the entrance to the original 1938 Medical School building.
The post holder will form part of a team providing a comprehensive and professional reception function at key points in the College. These posts will provide a range of critical front-line services designed to ensure that the College operates effectively as a quality teaching, learning and working environment for students, staff and visitors, whilst at the same time providing a friendly, welcoming and informative reception. The reception will be extremely busy and will require the post holder to quickly establish the need of the customers, deal with the enquiry or to refer the enquiry to the appropriate part of the College. The post holder will have to understand the complexity within which the College operates to ensure an efficient and professional service.
This specific post is one of two part-time posts that service the Medical School building reception desk during the period Monday-Friday 8am to 7pm throughout the year. This desk provides the front of house function for all visitors to the Medical School Building, Wolfson Centre for Medical Education and the Institute of Biomedical Research as well as a new entrance to the Barnes Library, a permanent security office, a Student Information Hub and student study space.
Role Summary

Provide support to dedicated area including visitors, administration, staff and students, organise and manage all aspects of incoming mail and deliveries, dealing with and resolving the vast majority of initial requests and queries.
